The Majestic Eagle Adventure

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in the capital city Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Visit Gandan Monastery, the main Buddhist center of the country. In the evening, enjoy a Mongolian folklore performance with traditional music and dance. Afterwards, visit the Choijin Lama Museum, an important temple complex with religious art.

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar – Amarbayasgalant Monastery

Drive north to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most beautiful Buddhist monasteries, nestled in a peaceful mountain valley.

Day 3: Rest Day at Amarbayasgalant Monastery

Time to relax and explore the monastery in depth. Opportunities for walks around the area and to experience monastic life.

Day 4: Amarbayasgalant – Urantogoo

Continue to Urantogoo, a region with impressive volcanic rock formations and wide steppe landscapes.

Day 5: Urantogoo – Murun, Khövsgöl Province

Drive to Murun, the administrative center of Khövsgöl Province. First impressions of life in northern Mongolia.

Day 6: Murun – Khatgal / Khovsgol Lake

Drive to Khatgal at the famous Khovsgol Lake, also known as the “Pearl of Mongolia.” Overnight in a ger camp directly on the lakeshore.

Day 7: Rest Day at Khovsgol Lake

Relax by the clear freshwater lake. Options include walking, boating, or meeting locals.

Day 8: Khovsgol Lake – Shine-Ider

Continue through remote landscapes to Shine-Ider. Overnight in a tent under the open sky.

Day 9: Shine-Ider – Khorgo Volcano

Drive to Khorgo Volcano, an extinct volcano surrounded by spectacular lava fields. Overnight in a guest ger or guesthouse.

Day 10: Rest Day at Khorgo Volcano

Time for hikes around the volcano and the nearby Terkhiin-Tsagaan Lake. Pure nature.

Day 11: Khorgo – Tsenkher Hot Springs

Drive to the hot springs of Tsenkher. Relax in warm thermal waters amidst nature.

Day 12: Tsenkher – Kharkhorin / Erdene-Zuu Monastery

Visit Kharkhorin, the former capital of the Mongol Empire. Explore the historic Erdene-Zuu Monastery, the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.

Day 13: Kharkhorin – Elsen Tasarkhai – Ulaanbaatar

Drive through the semi-desert of Elsen Tasarkhai, also called the “Mini-Gobi,” then return to Ulaanbaatar.

Day 14: Ulaanbaatar – Ulgii – Sagsai

Flight to Ulgii in western Mongolia. Continue to Sagsai and visit the famous Eagle Festival of the Kazakh nomads.

Day 15: Eagle Festival in Sagsai

Full-day visit to the Eagle Festival with traditional competitions, costumes, and horse-riding demonstrations.

Day 16: Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

Continue to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, home to high mountains, glaciers, and Kazakh nomads.

Day 17: Hike to Potanin Glacier

Rest day with a hike to the impressive Potanin Glacier, one of Mongolia’s largest glaciers.

Day 18: Return to Sagsai or Ulaankhus

Drive back through the majestic Altai landscape to a nomadic settlement.

Day 19: Drive to Ulgii

Return to Ulgii, time for a city walk or souvenir shopping.

Day 20: Ulgii – Ulaanbaatar

Flight back to the capital Ulaanbaatar. Last impressions of Mongolia.

Day 21: Departure

Transfer to the airport and departure. End of the journey with unforgettable memories.
