Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Mongolia’s beautiful capital, we embark on an exciting city tour. Visit the impressive Gandan Monastery and the National Museum, and enjoy a relaxed city stroll. Overnight at a hotel in Ulaanbaatar.
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar – Baga Gazariin Chuluu
We leave Ulaanbaatar and drive 440 km (approx. 5–6 hours) to the stunning Baga Gazariin Chuluu. The road is mostly paved, and about one hour of the journey is on a dirt track. Guests may choose to spend 1–2 hours in a nomad family’s ger (yurt) for an authentic experience.
Day 3: Gobi Desert – Tsagaan Suvarga
Drive to Tsagaan Suvarga (approx. 4 hours on paved roads, or 1 hour via dirt tracks). Coordinates: 44° 34' 40.5" N, 105° 48' 54.2" E. Explore the site on foot for 1–2 hours. Overnight in a nomad family ger.
Day 4: Arrival in South Gobi – Eagle Gorge
Distance: 260 km, 5–6 hours on paved roads
Coordinates: 43.4931° N, 104.0838° E
Overnight: Gercamp
Day 5: Eagle Gorge – Khongoriin Els
Morning hike through Eagle Gorge, then drive 210 km to Khongoriin Els (approx. 3–4 hours). Coordinates: 43°44′28.7″ N, 102°20′05.6″ E. Overnight at Gercamp.
Day 6: Khongoriin Els
Spend a full day exploring the dunes, enjoy a short camel ride, and hike through the sand dunes. Overnight at Gercamp.
Day 7: Khongor – Bayanzag
Drive 160 km (approx. 3 hours) to Bayanzag to enjoy the sunset. Coordinates: 44°08′23.5″ N, 103°42′57.2″ E. Overnight at Gercamp.
Day 8: Bayanzag – Ongi Monastery
Drive 170 km (4–5 hours) to Ongii Monastery. Coordinates: 45°27′46.6″ N, 103°53′50.9″ E. Hike 1–2 hours. Overnight at Gercamp.
Day 9: Ongii – Orkhon Waterfall
Drive approx. 300 km (6–7 hours). Visit Orkhon Waterfall (46°47'22.5" N, 101°57'14.1" E) and the Tuvkhun Monastery. Overnight with a nomad family.
Day 10: Orkhon Valley Day Ride
Explore the beautiful Orkhon Valley, visiting Tuvkhun Monastery in the morning. Overnight with a friendly nomad family.
Day 11: Orkhon – Kharkhorin
Drive 2–3 hours to Kharkhorin. Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery and Kharkhorin Museum. Overnight at a cozy Gercamp.
Day 12: Kharkhorin – Khustai National Park
Drive 3–4 hours to Khustai National Park. Hike through the park and visit the Przewalski Horse Meadow.
